Mai Wada

Mai Wada has been working on visualisation of the sense of animism in Japanese culture.
She seeks to share the experience of the invisible and spiritual aspects of nature through painting. She aims to depict more than superficial elements the unseen forces that underlie the visible data or externalized matter. Through such mimetic processes, Mai traces divinity in nature. She proposes that painting has the potential to create enhanced versions of the realities embodied ‘unseen’ in artworks.
